Ex vacuum leak detectors (VLXE, VLX, VIMS)

Ex vacuum leak detectors (VLXE, VLX, VIMS)

FUNCTION:

A vacuum (underpressure) is generated in the interstitial space.

Untightnesses lead to a vacuum loss, which can be compensated to a small extent by integrated pumps to ensure trouble-free operation.

Relevant leaks lead reliably to an optical and acoustic alarm.

The pipe run/construction heights in connection with the placement of the leak detector determine the underpressure to be applied.

Minimum alarm pressure (mbar) = 30 mbar + height Hmax (cm) * density (g/cm3) * 0,98

(for underground pipes: density at least 1 g/cm3, Hmax see documentation)

calculation of minimum alarm pressure (excel-file).

The alarm pressure is given in mbar in the type designation, e.g. VLXE 330.

The operating pressures are higher than the respective alarm pressures. The pipe's interstitial space must withstand these underpressures.

Ex vacuum leak detectors (VLXE, VLX, VIMS) can monitor liquids that form explosive vapor-air mixtures.

There are differences in the categories of the construction groups and their installation inside or outside of Ex areas as well as in the version without or with an integrated pump.

Internally partially explosion-proof, with integrated pump, for one tank, for wall mounting, outside of Ex areas, preferably outdoors.

VLXE

Internally partially explosion-proof, with integrated pump, for wall mounting, outside Ex areas, preferably outdoors.

VLX .. A-Ex with LAE

Explosion-proof working unit (leak detector) with integrated pump, category 2, for one tank, for wall mounting outdoors,

in zone 1, leak indicating unit LAE for wall mounting indoors, outside of Ex areas. (elektromechanical)

VLXE .. A-Ex with LAE .. PM

Explosion-proof working unit (leak detector) with integrated pump, category 2, for one tank, for wall mounting outdoors,

in zone 1, weatherproof leak indicating unit LAE .. PM for wall mounting, outside of Ex areas. (electronical design with digital pressure display, tightness indication, etc. at the leak indicating unit), pressures up to 5 bar

VLXE .. A-Ex MV with LAE .. PMMV

Explosion-proof working unit (leak detector) with integrated pump, solenoid valve, category 2, for one tank, for wall mounting outdoors,

in zone 1, weatherproof leak indicating unit LAE .. PMMV for wall mounting, outside of Ex areas. (electronical design with digital pressure display, tightness indication, etc. at the leak indicating unit), pressures up to 25 or 90 bar respectively

VLX(E).. Ex

Fully explosion-proof version with integrated pump, category 2, for wall mounting outdoors, in zone 1. (VLX .. ExM: elektromechanical design, VLXE .. Ex: electronical design with digital pressure display, tightness indication, etc. )

VLXE-SAB T/P

Leak detection technology combined for a maximum of 12 pipes or tanks in a free-standing housing for outdoor installation with central pumps for the pipe and/or tank monitoring. Category 2 up to the ventilation level at 1 meter above the floor.

The solution for filling stations whose pipes or tanks cannot withstand overpressure in the interstitial space.

Installation scheme

VLX 350 SA-Ex with LAE

Without integrated pump, category 2, installation of the leak detector VLX 350 SA-Ex on the tank in zone 1, leak indicating unit LAE for wall mounting indoors, outside of Ex areas.

VIMS

Installation of 1–32 explosion-proof sensors (category 2) in the immediate vicinity of the monitoring chambers in zone 1, with separate central Ex vacuum sources, leak indicating unit LAE for wall mounting indoors, outside of Ex areas.

The discriminating sensors indicate whether there is an air leak or petrol/diesel if there is a leak in the inner wall or groundwater if there is a leak in the outer wall.

NOTES:

The requirements of the respective documentation must be observed!

Adequate ventilation must be provided when installing Ex components in the building.

Equipment that can come into contact with stored goods or their vapors must be made sufficiently durable.
