FUNCTION:
In the interstitial space, a pressure is generated with air or nitrogen that is higher than the pressure of the stored good on the tank bottom or other external pressures, e.g. groundwater.
Untightnesses lead to a pressure drop that can be compensated to a small extent by integrated pumps to ensure trouble-free operation.
Relevant leaks lead reliably to an optical and acoustic alarm.
The height of the tank, the density of the stored goods and the overlay pressures determine the pressures to be applied.
Minimum alarm pressure (mbar) = 30 mbar + tank height (cm) * density (g/cm3) * 0,98 + overlay pressure (mbar)
(for underground Tanks: density at least 1 g/cm3)
calculation of minimum alarm pressure (excel-file).
The alarm pressure is given in mbar in the type designation, e.g. DL 330.
The operating pressures are higher than the respective alarm pressures. Integrated overpressure valves prevent impermissible pressure developments in the system. The tank's interstitial space must withstand these pressures.
DL
Pressure leak detector for several underground tanks or one aboveground tank. For wall mounting.
A standard at filling stations and in industrial applications for the storage of explosive or chemically aggressive liquids. Leak detection medium: dried air.
DLG
Pressure leak detector gas for several underground tanks or one aboveground tank. For wall mounting. The safe choice if the stored goods are sensitive to oxygen or air humidity. Leak detection medium: nitrogen.
LDU22
Leak detection technology combined for tanks and/or pipes in a free-standing housing for outdoor installation with central pumps for tank and pipe monitoring. Specially designed for filling stations to monitor several underground tanks and their associated pipes. Leak detection medium: dried air.
NOTES:
- The requirements of the respective documentation must be observed!
- Equipment that can come into contact with stored goods must be made sufficiently durable (e.g. connection lines in the manhole chamber).
- If explosive vapors permeate through the inner wall of the tank into the interstitial space, observe additional explosion protection! For example, through inert gas leak detectors on GRP tanks for storing petrol.
